Dear Chief Executive Lynn Jackson

Please, I pray, advise me:

1. Why am I not permitted to attend your most interesting Holocaust conference in Dublin this month?

2. I see the conference theme emphasises denialism. Is it safe to presume there will also be academic papers presented that explore truth-content of what passes as Holocaust-Shoah narrative?

3. Will the conference also expose the many fanciful stories told by survivors, for example the notorious Herman Rosenblat story featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show? - see item below.

4. In view of the conference's  'antisemitic' emphasis, will there also be a focus on the Talmud-generated hatred of things not Jewish? For example, will you focus on Jewish supremacism as recently expressed by Chief Rabbi Ovadia Josef of Jerusalem: 'Gentiles exist only to serve Jews'?

5. I am interested in Professor Meir Litvak, Center for Iranian Studies, Tel Aviv University, who will speak on 'Antisemitism in Iran and Holocaust denial'. Will there be scholars from Iran attending this International conference?

6. Of particular interest for me is Prof Robert Wistrich's  'Holocaust denial and inversion' because I have observed how Holocaust inversion has totally gripped the Holocaust-Shoah narrative, which makes it another form of nihilism. This would explain why in a number of countries individuals, who refuse to believe in its narrative, are labelled 'deniers', 'haters', 'antisemites', 'racists', 'neo-Nazis', 'xenophobes', even 'terrorists' – and often imprisoned. It seems to me that an open discussion is thus feared by those who believe in the Holocaust-Shoah narrative on account of their personal Holocaust inversion problem, which then becomes a pathological lethal obsession fuelled by a self-serving victim mentality that cannot tolerate anyone asking questions. Hence the need to criminalize those individuals who refuse to adopt the Holocaust inversion mindset.  Perhaps you can pass on my thoughts to Professor Wistrich for comment.

7. While I still have your attention, could you please ask Professor Robert Jan van Pelt whether he still stands by the statement he and Deborah Dwork made in their 1996 book: Auschwitz: From 1270 to the present, where at pages 363-64 they state that Auschwitz I-Stammlager never had a homicidal gas chamber, and the one that is shown to visitors is merely a symbolic representation of the homicidal gas chambers at Auschwitz II-Birkenau?

Although I am saddened by the fact that I am not permitted to attend I wish you and your conference all the best.

Sincerely

Dr Fredrick Töben

Holocaust Couple's Love Story Exposed As Lie

by LA SHAWN on 12.29.08

in LUNACY

Herman and Roma Rosenblat

Oh, how I wish I'd blogged about the latest literary hoax last week before the publisher canceled the contract! Feet-dragging is a bad habit, boys and girls.

The air's out of the balloon now. A man named Herman Rosenblat claimed that while he was in a concentration camp, a Jewish girl whose family was pretending to be Christian gave him apples over a fence. One day he asked her not to come back because he had an "appointment" with the gas chamber. He wasn't killed; he was transferred to another camp.

Years later, he went on a blind date with a woman who turned out to be the girl who'd given him apples lo those many years ago.

Critics cried foul. First, the concentration camp where Rosenblat said he was detained didn't have gas chambers. Second, the Nazi's didn't tell prisoners when they were going to the gas chamber. The point was to trick them into going. Third, there's no way Herman or Roma could have gotten close to the fence without the guards seeing them. Fourth, it was highly unlikely that a Jewish family who feared the Nazi's wouldn't know about their nine-year-old daughter's daily visits to a concentration camp fence, for crying out loud, or would allow her to continue once they found out. And on and on.

Herman Rosenblat and his wife Roma ended up on Oprah, and Berkley Books offered him a deal for his memoirs, Angel at the Fence: The True Story of a Love That Survived. And you know Hollywood is partial to Holocaust stories. The book is set to be made into a movie.

Despite Rosenblat's story being discredited, publisher Berkley Books stood by him until December 27, when the company canceled the contract. Rosenblat admitted he'd made up the "love story." But guess what? Hollywood still intends to make the movie. It's fiction, so why not?

Read all about it at The New Republic, which exposed the hoax. The latest article contains links to previous ones.

Oprah_Frey

Perhaps the biggest burn victim is Oprah Winfrey. Her gullibility knows no bounds. This is the second memoir she's endorsed and gushed over that's turned out to be a big fat lie.

You may recall that after she made memoir author James Frey a lot of money, he confessed to fakery. The so-called bad boy drunk who wrecked cars, went to prison, fell in love with a fellow drunk in rehab who killed herself, tamed a wild beast of a hardened criminal, etc., was nothing more than a wanna-be bad-a**, a relatively unremarkable frat boy who spent maybea few hours in jail. Check out The Smoking Gun's outstanding piece of journalism exposing Frey.

Oprah asked Frey to come back on the show to explain himself. For the first time in years, I watched the show. I had to. It was funny and worth every minute. Frey looked like a little boy being scolded by his mommy.

Will Miss Oprah ask an old couple to return and explain themselves?

I'm not a Jew, so I don't pretend to understand how upsetting Rosenblat's lies must be to people who were imprisoned in the camps and their relatives. Why did he do it? "I wanted to bring happiness to people," he said. "I brought hope to a lot of people. My motivation was to make good in this world."

The problem, Mr. Rosenblat, is that your story was wide open for exposure. Your story was obviously phony to thinking people and easy to pick apart. How many Jewish people were touched in some way by the Holocaust? Did you not stop to think about Holocaust survivors who could verify, or in this case, refute, your claims? The ramifications were too great to even take the chance, in my opinion.

But, whatever. Time to dust off the live-blogging skills!

Update (12/30): NYT on fake love story memoir.

Being happy–is it good for the Jews? "Before Professor Dershowitz accused me of being an anti-Semite (news to me), I was a happy person. Since then, I'm still a happy person". –Michael Santomauro

An antisemite condemns people for being Jews, I am not an antisemite.--Michael Santomauro

Most of us are mentally trapped to think Jewish. Actually, it is safe to say that virtually every mainstream publication or or other type of media organ is "nothing more than a screen to present chosen views." The great battle over the last century has been a battle for the mind of the Western peoples, i.e., non-Jewish Euros. The chosen won it by acquiring control over essentially the complete mainstream news, information, education and entertainment media of every type, and using that control to infuse and disseminate their message, agenda and worldview, their way of thinking, or rather the way they want us to think. Since at least the 1960s this campaign has been effectively complete. Since then they have shaped and controlled the minds of all but a seeming few of us in varying degree with almost no opposition or competition from any alternative worldview. So now most of us are mentally trapped in the box the chosen have made for us, which we have lived in all our lives. Only a few have managed to avoid it or escape it, or to even sometimes see outside of it, and so actually "think outside of the (Jewish) box." --Michael Santomauro

$1 million Audi for Israeli Prime Minister

Another thumbing his nose to America.  With more than $3 billion in annual foreign aid that the United States gives to Israel, not including the billions in tax benefits and additional requests that are never turned down, you would think that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would've ordered a Cadillac to help the U.S. economy that supports his country.  Instead, he orders a German made Audi.

Report: Israel orders million-dollar armored Audi A8

Audi A8

The President of the United States may be the highest target for assassination in the world – hence Cadillac One, his custom, leather-lined tank – but there's no shortage of people in the Middle East who'd bite that the opportunity to take a shot at the Prime Minister of Israel. (The recently commemorated assassination of late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin is evidence enough.) It comes as no surprise that the Shin-Bet – Israel's national domestic preventative security force – has ordered a new armored limousine to transport the country's head of government.

The duties had been carried out until now by a motor pool of American and German vehicles, accompanied by Japanese SUVs in leapfrog formation (it's a wonder to behold if you're ever seen them in motion), but will soon be taken over by a specially-commissioned Audi A8 Security.

The car is reportedly based on the Audi A8 (likely the long-wheelbase version) with the 450-horsepower, 6-liter W-12 engine, Quattro all-wheel drive, B6+ and B7 ballistic protection, run-flat tires, an independent oxygen supply for the cabin, a fire-suppression system, explosive charges to free the doors in case of shockwaves, a DVD entertainment system, drinks fridge and humidor (Netanyahu's a known cigar aficionado). Those, of course, are just the features we know about, and given Israel's leading position in security equipment, we don't doubt there's plenty more that remains undisclosed. The car is said to cost around $700K from the factory, but add the country's incredibly high taxes – which the government still has to pay, but not on the security equipment – and you're looking at a cool million.

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavoured cat food?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

WERE THE "CHOSEN PEOPLE" PICKED FOR THEIR VIRTUES OR VICES?

WERE THE "CHOSEN PEOPLE" PICKED FOR THEIR VIRTUES OR VICES?

More than two thousand years ago, the frenzied multitude rejected Jesus because they thought he was going to rob them of their "chosen people" status and equate them with the rest of mankind. Today, 2000 years later, under the same chosen people rubric, Palestinian villagers, Christians and Muslims alike, are still being chased, assaulted, and hunted down "because they don't belong".

Were "the chosen people" picked for their virtues or vices?

By Khalid Amayreh

The recent Vatican synod on the deteriorating situation in Palestine-Israel did the right thing by pointing out that Israel ought to discontinue the use of the controversial concept of "the chosen people" to torment and dispossess the Palestinians. Perhaps the Roman Catholic hierarchy has woken up to the fact that tens of thousands of Palestinian Arab Christians are forced to leave their ancestral homeland as a result of the brutality and oppression stemming from the ongoing Israeli occupation.

In its conclusions and recommendations, the synod repudiated the fact that Israel never stops misusing the Bible to justify oppressive and repressive policies against virtually helpless Palestinians. It also explained that for purely moral reasons, Christians around the world cannot speak of "the promised land" as an exclusive right for a privileged Jewish people; in Christian beliefs, it is in Christ that all men and women of all countries and races become the chosen people.

On the face of it, the latest good news from Rome represents a step towards the reassertion of moral Christianity at the expense of Zionist (or "Zionised") Christianity. The formulation of a western Christian, especially Roman Catholic, stance on the plight of the Palestinians at the hands of the Zionists is welcome. However, it probably has more to do with reasserting Christianity's moral identity than with making any serious effort to challenge the Israeli regime, which under Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing leadership is drifting through unbridled jingoism towards fascism.

None the less, the Vatican should be commended for demonstrating that political Zionism, which has enslaved nations and governments, will not find Christianity such easy prey. Not only that, but it is showing that the Roman Catholic Church, at least, is not about to morph into a political pawn in the service of the Israeli state's territorial ambitions. It is reassuring that the Vatican appears not to be ready to align itself with Israel's unrelenting dehumanisation of and brutality against Palestinians, Muslims and Christians alike, whose only crime is that they are not part of a "holy tribe".

Even so, it is true to say that Zionism has made much progress in turning erstwhile good-hearted Christians into fanatical Zionists, ready to support human rights violations by right-wing Jewish settlers and their supporters in Israeli society. So-called Christian Zionists seem to have lost any real link to genuine Christianity and the message of Jesus in their rush to support Zionist Israel and its policies which any human being with any degree of honesty would find morally repugnant and criminally unacceptable. Indeed, some supposedly Christian leaders give enthusiastic support to decidedly un-Christian acts by Israel, such as extrajudicial killings, ethnic cleansing and systematic persecution, in order to create space in the Holy Land for Jewish immigrants; the Nazis had a similar policy, called lebensraum, intended to provide living space for "ethnic Germans".

In the face of a powerful Israel lobby, such Christian leaders of Western states make do with half-hearted appeals for "balance" and "restraint" when they know as much as anyone that the situation in the Israel-Palestine conflict is far from a conflict between equals. There worthless statements have failed to save even one Palestinian farmer's olive grove from being destroyed by Israeli settlers. Or one Palestinian family's home from being bulldozed and the family expelled.

It is true that some courageous Christians have stood up for human rights and the rule of international law and faced the opprobrium of their fellows in the process. But their voices are usually lost in the increasing Israeli hasbara (propaganda) which turns black into white and the Big Lie of Zionism into accepted truth.

It is imperative that we encourage Christians to show their commitment to true Christian values and morality by denouncing Israel's illegal policies in the West Bank and the growing phenomenon of using biblical and Talmudic injunctions to dehumanize Gentiles. The remarks by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef that the raison d'être of Gentiles is to serve Jews, was ignored by the US media; it took a reader of the New York Times to point this out. Thus the Zionists' "servants" across North America were spared from having to respond in a way which might have been unfavourable to Israel. Rabbi Yosef is the spiritual head of the Shas Party, one of Netanyahu's far-right coalition partners.

When Moses received the Torah on Mount Sinai, he received the Ten Commandments, described as a light upon humanity. The Neturei Karta Movement of Orthodox Jews are anti-Zionist: "One of the basics of Judaism is that we are a people in exile due to Divine decree. Accordingly, we are opposed to the ideology of Zionism, a recent innovation, which seeks to force the end of exile. Our banishment from the Holy Land will end miraculously at a time when all mankind will unite in the brotherly service of the Creator. In addition to condemning the central heresy of Zionism, we also reject its policy of aggression against all peoples. Today this cruelty manifests itself primarily in the brutal treatment of the Palestinian people. We proclaim that this inhuman policy is in violation of the Torah."

Unfortunately, Zionism has not only inflicted death and destruction on Palestinians it has also killed the sense of morality and joint humanity among Israelis so that they condone the killings, land confiscation and lies carried out in their name by their government. Orthodox Jewry is clear: "[Zionism's] essential goal was and is to change the nature of the Jewish people from that of a religious entity to a political movement. From Zionism's inception the spiritual leaders of the Jewish people stood in staunch opposition to it." If only religious Christians around the world would take the time to reflect on this message, their desire to support Israel may be diminished. Perhaps the Vatican already has.
