Opinion "Israel obviously needs a prime minister who is a VERY bad Jew." - Paul Eidelberg

For centuries, we lived in Berdichev.

In the brutal Ukrainian winter of 1941, SS soldiers arrived there and rounded up eighty-seven members of my family – babies, young adults, octogenarians – stripped them naked, marched them to a nearby ditch, and executed them. Their lifeless bodies fell silently into a mass grave.  

Like most Jews in Europe, my family "cooperated" with the Final Solution. They did not resist or fight back.

Six million Jews were slaughtered in a period of four years. They received little sympathy while they were still alive and hunted down like animals.

There was no public outcry because the Holocaust fit the world's narrative for Jews during the past 2000 years: a people destined to be persecuted and slaughtered.


During their two millennial in the Diaspora, Jews were not known to resist. There are few recorded instances in which Jews turned against their host nations or retaliated against their murderers.


Instead, the survivors – if there were any – were expelled or left for another place. The murdered were regarded as "good" Jews. They accepted their fate helplessly, without resistance. 

This narrative of the Jews has played out on the historical stage with boring monotony: Jews get killed because they are Jews. Nothing novel about it.

After the Holocaust, however, the world, disgusted by this particularly ghoulish period of history, accorded some sympathy for the Jews.  

Media commentary about the ongoing Gaza War reveals the world has now reverted to its pre-Holocaust perspective.

Today, the only good Jew is a powerless Jew willing to become a dead one.

The Zionist Revolution is to blame. It changed everything. Jews re-created their own country. The Arabs attacked the new Jewish state the day after independence and promised to complete Hitler's genocide. In succeeding decades, the Arabs attacked again and again.

Strangely, the Jews, many of them refugees from Arab nations, adopted a surprising, new tactic: they fought back. 
  
With Zionism, the Jews stubbornly refused to follow the centuries-old script. They refuse to be killed without resistance.  As a result, the world has become increasingly enraged at their impertinence. 
 
The recent events in Gaza and Mumbai make this plain. 

In 2005, Israel eliminated all Jewish presence in Gaza making it "Juddering," and handed it over to the Palestinians.

Left behind were synagogues and thriving green houses. The Arabs looted and destroyed them literally the day after Israel 's withdrawal was complete.

Where these structures once stood, the Palestinians built military bases and installed rocket launchers to shell Israeli civilians.

To date, some 7,000 missiles have fallen on Israeli cities and towns, killing and maiming dozens, and sowing widespread terror.

Medical studies reveal nearly all Jewish children in the communities bordering Gaza suffer from serious, trauma-induced illness.

The Gazan Palestinians then elected Hamas to lead them. Hamas proceeded to kill or imprison their political rivals, and its leaders, true to the Hamas charter, were unabashed in clearly stating their aims: they will not stop until they achieve their Final Solution, kill all the Jews, take over the land of Israel, and establish a theocracy governed by Islamic law.

As killing Jews for being Jews has been a national sport for centuries, Islamic militants are justified in believing they are merely fulfilling historical tradition in Argentina, India and Gaza. Surely the Jews in Mumbai did not occupy Gaza. They were tortured and killed just for being Jews. And predictably, in the eyes of the world, they immediately became good Jews, just like my murdered family in Bertishev. 

Good Jews would wait until Hamas has weapons enabling its members to achieve their ultimate goal of absolute mass murder. Those enraged by Israel 's defensive military action insist Hamas uses only "crude" rockets, as if Qassams were BB guns, and military inferiority were somehow equivalent with moral superiority.

In fact, Hamas now has Iranian-supplied Grad missiles which have landed on Be'er Sheva and the outskirts of Tel Aviv.

Westerners have had only sporadic exposure to the indiscriminate killing in the name of "holy war" which Israel has lived with for years.

Memories of 9-11, Madrid, and London have dimmed.

This is not because the Islamic militants made a careful choice of weapons. They simply have not yet acquired nuclear bombs. Once they do, the West will develop a less detached view about the Islamics' professed intentions for the "infidels." 

The only enlightened people in the civilized world who actually get it are the Israelis. They've not had time for detached philosophical pondering. They've been too busy confronting the reality of Islamic fundamentalism. 

Soon, Iran will have nuclear weapons. It will give them to Hezbollah and Hamas. Today, Jews must take a position: either be "good" Jews willing to be slaughtered without resistance, or be "bad" Jews who defend themselves at the cost of being pariahs of our enlightened world.

Good Jews would wait for another six million to be murdered, and pick up to leave for another country to start the cycle again. The bad ones refuse to go calmly into the ditch.

I confess: I'm a bad Jew.

CAREFULLY "CHOSEN" HISTORICAL ACCOUNTS

In Chapter 15 of his book "The Unnecessary War", entitled "America Inherits The Empire" Patrick Buchanan lays the blame squarely on Great Britain for converting two European wars into world wars. He writes: 

"In the twin catastrophes of Western civilization, World Wars One and Two, Britain was the indispensable nation and Churchill the indispensable man.  

It was Britain's secret commitment to fight for France of which the Germans were left unaware, that led to the world war with a Kaiser who never wanted to fight his mother's country… 

It was Britain that converted a Franco-German-Russian war into a world war of four years that brought down the German, Russian, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian empires and gave the world Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini, and Hitler. 

It was Britain whose capitulation to U.S. pressure and dissolution of her twenty-three year pact with Japan in 1922 insulted, isolated, and enraged that faithful ally, leading directly to Japanese militarism, aggression and World War Two in the Pacific." 

This is quite a list. But note what Buchanan does not say: 

"It was Britain which issued a declaration sponsoring a Jewish 'national home' in Palestine, ostensibly as a quid pro quo for getting the U.S. into the war through Zionist help. 

It was Britain which betrayed Prince Feisal and the Arabs who had fought for Britain against the Ottoman Turks. 

It was Britain who sacrificed Sheriff Hussein of Mecca after he had served his purpose in provoking the Arab revolt. 

It was Britain which subdivided Arabia into the mandates of Palestine, Transjordan and Iran and gave Syria and Lebanon to the French as mandates. Britain thus betrayed its war time pledge of a unified Arab state post-war to Sheriff Hussein.  

It was Britain which appeased the Zionists at Paris with the Palestinian mandate – and which installed Feisal on the throne of Iraq and his brother Abdullah as emir of Transjordan as a sop for the betrayal of the Palestinian Arabs." 

Patrick Buchanan does not say these things. Instead he merely includes the destruction of the Ottoman Empire with the other empires being destroyed. That gloss over conceals many things, Since Buchanan is very hard on Churchill it is interesting that he does not mention Churchill's early 1920's stint as Colonial Secretary. In the year of 1921-1922 Churchill issued a White Paper under his name in which he denied that the Balfour Declaration intended either the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine in the immediate future or the dispossession of the Arabs of Palestine. He stated that he intended for Zionism "to be good for both the Arabs and the Jews". These words are like so many of Winston Churchill – they make for ironic reading indeed in light of subsequent developments. (Some may object that the deceitful words were not really written by Churchill; they were written by Sir Herbert Samuel, the first High Commissioner of Palestine. But Churchill signed his name to the document. And, as subsequent events verified, he endorsed those sentiments.) Patrick Buchanan may object that his book deals with Churchill and two world wars. That is true. But the Middle East and Palestine in particular were vastly affected by these two wars, especially the First. Since Churchill and his relationship to things Jewish plays such an important role in the development of Palestinian problems, why does Patrick Buchanan not mention it? In 1921 it was still possible for Britain to back off the Balfour declaration. It was not yet writ in stone. Indeed, there was considerable agitation in the House of Lords in that very year against the Balfour Declaration. Lord Islington had led a successful motion demanding that the Balfour Declaration be repudiated as inconsistent with the pledges made to the Sheriff Hussein on October 24-25, 1915. Winston Churchill's decision as Colonial Secretary in 1921-1922 to reaffirm the Balfour Declaration played a key role in quelling the very powerful opposition to it which existed in Parliament and the British military at that time. Patrick Buchanan, a very erudite and well read man, knows these facts perfectly. But he knows that to investigate Churchill's career as Colonial Secretary would, once again, require delving into those anti-Semitic "myths" of Jewish manipulation of Great Britain and America behind the scenes in World War One.  

No one should criticize Patrick Buchanan for his reluctance to "come clean" on the totality of hushed up facts. He knows the limits of candid discourse. It is the price of getting his books published. But the careful reader of Buchanan will note his similarities with the old John Birch Society. The Birchers always knew who the real enemy was, but rather than use the dread three letter word they would always hide behind circumlocutions like "The Insiders", the Illuminati and the like. Patrick knows better than to make himself ridiculous. But like the extreme right of the nations better days, he knows exactly who it really is. That is the only explanation for his carefully "chosen" omissions in otherwise impeccably researched historical accounts.

LOS ANGELES (JTA) -- The Public Broadcasting Service will offer U.S. television viewers a concentrated history lesson during Holocaust Remembrance Week, with seven films and documentaries on Jewish death and defiance in the past and on the genocides of the present.

Four main films will be aired in prime time by 365 member stations, starting April 11 with a broadcast of the British version of "The Diary of Anne Frank" at 9 p.m., sponsored in part by the Jewish Federations of North America (check local listings to confirm date and time).

The story of the high-spirited Jewish girl in hiding from the Nazis for two years in a crowded Amsterdam attic, while facing the highs and lows of adolescence and first love, is too familiar and revered to permit tampering with the plot. However, director Jon Jones does allow himself to vary the relationships among the key characters.

Ellie Kendrick (one of the young school girls in "An Education") gives us an Anne with all her exuberance, as well as occasional orneriness and chutzpah. But the major surprise is Otto Frank, Anne's father, as portrayed by Iain Glen.

In her intimate diary, Anne was not uncritical of her parents, and Otto has been pictured frequently as cold and ineffectual.

By contrast, in the current production, Otto is very much the central and dominating figure who keeps his family and their friends from falling apart amid the crowded tension and boredom of their tight quarters.

It is also Otto who enforces a degree of normalcy in the most abnormal of circumstances. The three adult men in the attic dress in jacket and tie, and in the celebration of a joyous Chanukah the actors seem to convince themselves and the viewers that all is (or soon will be) all right with the world.

"Among the Righteous," airing April 12 at 10 p.m., documents the dogged search by historian and writer Robert Satloff to track down and verify any instances in which Arabs aided their Jewish neighbors while Hitler's Afrika Corps swept across North Africa.

Satloff, the executive director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, embarked on his quest after noticing during a visit to the Yad Vashem memorial in Jerusalem that not a single Arab was listed among the righteous Christians and, mainly Albanian Muslims, who sheltered or saved Jews during the Holocaust.

His research turned up evidence of 100 forced labor and concentration camps in Tunisia and Morocco -- one so notorious that it was known as the "Buchenwald in the Desert."

Satloff finds his hero in Khaled Abdul-Wahab, a prosperous Tunis businessman who, like Oskar Schindler, entertained Nazi officials to cover sheltering Jewish families on his family farm.

Tunisian-born Sivan Shalom, Israel's former foreign minister, also offers a brief testimony on the help extended to his father by Arab friends.

"Blessed Is the Match," scheduled for April 13 at 10 p.m., recounts the bravery of Hannah Senesh, a young poet and diarist. In 1944, Senesh joined an elite group of Palestine's Jews to parachute behind Nazi lines and rescue Jews in her native Hungary.

Senesh was caught, tortured and executed by the Germans, but her name lives on in the annals of Israeli heroism.

Turning from the horrors of the past to the bloody present (and future), historian Daniel Goldhagen premieres his book and documentary feature "Worse Than War" on April 14 at 9 p.m.

Looking at the sorry record of the past 100 years, Goldhagen counts 100 million civilians, mostly women and children, killed in genocides in Turkey, Ukraine, Nazi-occupied Europe, China and Cambodia, then on to Guatemala, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur.

That staggering figure, says the author of "Hitler's Willing Executioners," exceeds all the military deaths in all the wars of the century.

Followed by a camera crew, Goldhagen last year went to 10 countries in Asia, Africa, the former Soviet Union and Central America interviewing survivors, perpetrators and families of victims.

Amid horrifying footage and testimony, he tries to make some sense of it all, seeking the causes -- and possible solutions -- to prevent future "ethnic cleansings" or, the term he prefers, "eliminationism."

Also during Holocaust Remembrance Week, a limited number of public broadcasting stations will carry two more documentaries, "Holy Lands: Jerusalem & The West Bank" and "House of Life: The Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague," as well as a play-within-a-play, "Imagine This."

"Imagine This," the cinematic version of a recent London stage musical, is arguably the most startling and complex of the week's offerings.

It opens with a group of bourgeois Jewish families in Warsaw enjoying an outing at a merry-go-round when Nazi dive bombers interrupt the idyll.

Next, crammed into a ghetto, Daniel, the leader of the Jewish inmates, decides to buck up their spirits by putting on a play.

The presence of a flourishing theater, and even an orchestra and library, most notably in the Lodz Ghetto, is historically correct and was dramatized in Joshua Sobol's memorable "Ghetto."

For his production, Daniel chooses the last stand of the Jews against the Romans at Masada, with obvious similarities to the "actors" current situation.

In parallel, the characters as ghetto inmates and Masada resisters are faced with the choice of surrender or defiance.

And above all, heaven help us, maybe peace is a good thing, something that consists of more than just the existential dangers about which we're constantly being warned.
What would happen if Israel stopped fighting the world?

So where did you spend Passover? Tens of thousands of Israelis were in Sinai. They ignored the Counter-Terrorism Bureau's warning, yet returned home safe and sound. Other Israelis - wait until you hear this - visited Cairo. I repeat: Cairo! They too returned tired but happy. They too did not heed the warnings. Haaretz's foreign news editor, for example, went to Egypt with his wife and four small children for the holiday. He identified himself as an Israeli everywhere he went, and believe it or not, was made to feel welcome.

Other Israelis traveled to other forbidden places all over the globe, including Turkey, and not a hair on their heads was harmed. They'd all had enough of the frightening campaigns.

Unintentionally, this world travel has become a kind of civil protest, a quiet uprising against the terror campaigns, a sort of rebellion that should be encouraged. In a brainwashed, blind, automatically obedient society, even this is something. It's not merely the Israelis' leisure culture, but the essence of their being. We are all surrounded by a phalanx of fear agents and dread brokers, suspicion marketers and anxiety propagandists. An army of generals and analysts, politicians and security specialists, all mobilized for one purpose - to infuse our life with terror.

It's time to free ourselves of their yoke. It's not that there aren't any dangers, or that we don't need warning or security apparatuses, but they must not be the only influences. The voice of thunder from Jerusalem, willfully blown up and exaggerated, is the only voice we hear, without a trace of an alternative - a voice of normality, sanity, optimism and hope. This applies as much to our next vacation as it does to Israel's next step in the peace process.

Spreading horror is a widespread, familiar practice in regimes that Israel does not want to resemble. Fear is the resort of the despot, a way to create false unity and prevent daring moves. Fear also feeds xenophobia, putting domestic problems out of people's minds whether the foe is real or imagined. From Hamas' armament to the tunnels to accusations that foreign workers and refugees spread crime and disease, from the Iranian nuclear threat to swine flu - all are tried-and-true methods of intimidation by exaggeration.

If we leave the Golan, missiles will land on Rosh Pina; if we withdraw from Yitzhar, Katyusha rockets will fall on our heads in the Dan region. Unless we bombard Iran, we'll be blown up ourselves; if we lift the blockade on Gaza, Ashkelon will be destroyed. There may be a grain of truth in all these threats and predictions, but when a no less threatening scenario is provided, it is easy to wonder why exactly we need all this.

For a long time we haven't had a statesman in these parts who has spread hope. Benjamin Netanyahu is the latest candidate for that position, but he's not the only one who has instead become an agent of fear; that is the job of almost anyone who has access to the public at large. Auschwitz is on the doorstep all the time, and everything is terribly dangerous. We must get an Iron Dome and gas masks, immigration police and vaccinations for everyone, whether necessary or not. We must not travel, must not speak Hebrew, certainly must not withdraw from anywhere. Countless apparatuses specializing in spreading fear are at work, without a single agent of normality to balance them.

There is nobody in Israel to tell us what will happen if we stop fighting with the rest of the world. Everyone is analyzing only the dangers and risks. You'll never hear anyone analyzing the chances and opportunities. Nobody is talking about a possible utopia - of being integrated into the space around us and being accepted by the world, of traveling by car to Europe, of enjoying the prosperity and security that ending the occupation would bring. The voices we hear tell us none of that. It might infuse people with hope, and that is dangerous.

Now the first crack has opened in the intimidation wall - a 36 percent increase in the number of travelers to Sinai. It seems like a small matter, but perhaps it will lead to opening additional daring cracks. If we didn't heed the scaremongers, if we went to Sinai and it was great, maybe we should try a few more things. Perhaps we could live with an Iranian nuclear bomb, without initiating an attack. Perhaps withdrawing from the Golan isn't as dangerous as they tell us. Perhaps lifting the Gaza blockade will be good for Israel, and recognizing Hamas will be a blessing.

And above all, heaven help us, maybe peace is a good thing, something that consists of more than just the existential dangers about which we're constantly being warned.

So we ignored the warnings and went to Sinai? Let's ignore some other imaginary fears too.

The history of Israel as a geopolitical fraud will fill entire libraries as those defrauded marvel at how so few deceived so many for so long. Those duped include many naive Jews who—even now—identify their interests with this extremist enclave.

Israeli leaders are wrong to worry about "de-legitimization." They are right to fear that a long-deceived public is fast realizing that Israel's founding was key to an ongoing deception.

General David Petraeus dispatched a team to brief Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on the perils that Israel still poses to U.S. national security. Mullen was reportedly shocked.

Edmund Connelly: Jews and Money

Edmund Connelly: Editor Kevin MacDonald has just written about Our Unethical Financial Elite. This is a worthy topic, especially to the extent it openly discusses Jewish involvement. 

Two things stand out here: First, the level of deceit and corruption is stunning. Second, the combination of Jews and financial malfeasance has a historical record thousands of years long. In other words, it is part of an old and sordid story, as I related in my essay The Culture of Deceit

There I wrote how historians, including Paul Johnson (A History of the Jews) and Albert Lindemann (Esau's Tears: Modern Anti-Semitism and the Rise of the Jews), showed this pattern of Jewish deception and fraud. For example, in 1781 Prussian official Christian Wilhelm von Dohm published a tract claiming, in Johnson's paraphrase, "The Jews had 'an exaggerated tendency [to seek] gain in every way, a love of usury.' These 'defects' were aggravated 'by their self-imposed segregation . . .' From these followed 'the breaking of the laws of the state restricting trade, the import and export of prohibited wares, the forgery of money and precious metals.'" In short, von Dohm's describes traditional Jewish communities as far more resembling a mafia-like group engaged in organized crime than what we think of as a religion.

Lindemann notes that during the 19th century in Eastern Europe there were also persistent complaints about Jewish perjury to help other Jews commit fraud and other crimes. For example, in Russia a neutral observer noted that judges "unanimously declared that not a single lawsuit, criminal or civil, can be properly conducted if the interests of the Jews are involved." Writing in 1914, American sociologist Edward A. Rosscommented on Jewish immigrants to America that "The authorities complain that the East European Hebrews feel no reverence for law as such and are willing to break any ordinance they find in their way. … In the North End of Boston 'the readiness of the Jews to commit perjury has passed into a proverb.'"

Jewish involvement in financial scandals became a prominent theme of modern anti-Semitism. Johnson writes, "The Union Générale scandal in 1882, the Comptoire d'Escompte scandal in 1889—both involving Jews—were merely curtain-raisers" to a far more massive and complex crime, the Panama Canal scandal, 'an immense labyrinth of financial manipulation and fraud, with [Jewish] Baron Jacques de Reinach right at the middle of it.'"  

Lindemann offers a parallel description of the rise of Jewish power paired with Jewish involvement in major financial scandals. In Germany, Jews "were heavily involved in the get-rich-quick enterprises" of the period of rapid urbanization and industrialization of the 1860s and 70s. "Many highly visible Jews made fortunes in dubious ways . . . Probably the most notorious of these newly rich speculators was Hirsch Strousberg, a Jew involved in Romanian railroad stocks. He was hardly unique in his exploits, but as Peter Pulzer has written, 'the . . . difference between his and other men's frauds was that his was more impudent and involved more money.'" 

Lindemann offers an account that sounds much like what Americans have been hearing about their own economic woes in the last few years: 

In the summer of 1873 the stock markets in New York and Vienna collapsed. By the autumn of that year Germany's industrial overexpansion and the reckless proliferation of stock companies came to a halt. Jews were closely associated in the popular mind with the stock exchange. Widely accepted images of them as sharp and dishonest businessmen made it all but inevitable that public indignation over the stock market crash would be directed at them. Many small investors, themselves drawn to the prospect of easy gain, lost their savings through fraudulent stocks of questionable business practices in which Jews were frequently involved. 

Like Johnson, Lindemann believes that accusations of fraud against many European Jews were not based on mere fantasy. With respect to the Panama Canal scandal of 1888–1892, for instance, Lindemann writes: 

Investigation into the activities of the Panama Company revealed widespread bribery of parliamentary officials to assure support of loans to continue work on the Panama Canal, work that had been slowed by endless technical and administrative difficulties. Here was a modern project that involved large sums of French capital and threatened national prestige. The intermediaries between the Panama Company and parliament were almost exclusively Jews, with German names and backgrounds, some of whom tried to blackmail one another . . . .

Thousands of small investors lost their savings in the Panama fiasco. . . . A trial in 1893 was widely believed to be a white-wash. The accused escaped punishment through bribery and behind-the-scenes machinations, or so it was widely believed. The Panama scandal seemed almost designed to confirm the long-standing charges of the French right that the republic was in the clutches of corrupt Jews who were bringing dishonor and disaster to France. 

In many cases, the Jewish nexus of the financial scandal includes the idea that Jews involved in financial scandals were being protected by other highly placed Jews: As Lindemann notes, "The belief of anti-Semites in France about Jewish secretiveness was based on a real secretiveness of some highly placed and influential Jews. What anti-Semites suspected was not so much pure fantasy as a malicious if plausible exaggeration, since solid facts were hard to come by." 

Consider, for example, the spectacle of the Wall Street scandals of the 1980s. So much of it was played out on the pages of major newspapers and magazines, so there was no doubt about the identity of the vast majority of culprits—at least for those with eyes to see it. 

Two writers who both had the eyes to see it and the talent to write about it intelligently were Connie Bruck—who happens to be Jewish—and James B. Stewart—who is not. Bruck wrote The Predators' Ball: The Inside Story of Drexel Burnham and the Rise of the Junk Bond Traders.The book has more than enough information to convince the average reader that Jewish financial mischief is rife—and has a massively negative effect on the greater non-Jewish world.   

Stewart's book is even better, beginning with its title, Den of Thieves. For those whose biblical knowledge is sketchy, the title comes from Matthew 21:12–13, where he recounts 

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves. And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. 

Stewart goes on to chronicle the misdeeds of Ivan Boesky, Martin Siegel, Dennis Levine, and Michael Milken, the mastermind behind it all. Simply by describing all the Jews involved Stewart makes clear that it was a cabal of Jews that pillaged and destroyed some of the most well-known corporations in America at the time by inventing and peddling "junk bonds" as an advance in capitalist operations. Lindemann was careful to include this in his story as well, writing that it had become clear that "the stock market scandals of the mid-to-late 1980s in the United States saw an overwhelming preponderance of Jews — at least ninety percent was a widely accepted figure." 

Jumping ahead to our own day, one of the best accounts of Jewish financial power—and its relationship to other forms of Jewish power—comes in the writing of retired professor James Petras. He has penned series of books starkly exposing "the Zionist Power Configuration" that includes Jewish dominance in Western finance. 

In particular, his book, Rulers and Ruled in the US Empire: Bankers, Zionists and Militants, focuses on this, but he also addresses it in The Power of Israel in the United StatesZionism, Militarism and the Decline of US Power, and Global Depression and Regional Wars: The United States, Latin America and the Middle East

Here are some of the observations Petras makes: "Jewish families are among the wealthiest families in the United States" and nearly a third of millionaires and billionaires are Jewish. He also points to similar wealth in Canada, where "over 30 percent of the Canadian Stock Market" is in Jewish hands. Alan Greenspan's tenure as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve is also linked to Zionist power, since Greenspan was "a long time crony of Wall Street financial interests and promoter of major pro-Israeli investment houses." (Greenspan was succeeded by coreligionist Ben Shalom Bernanke.) 

Debunking the "high school textbook version of American politics," Petras argues that "the people in key positions in financial, corporate and other business institutions establish the parameters within which the politicians, parties and media discuss ideas. These people constitute a ruling class." Of the two groups cited by Petras—those in control of financial capital and Zioncons—both are so heavily Jewish as to constitute a single "cabal," a word which Petras uses liberally throughout both books. 

Wall Street supplies many of the "tried and experienced top leaders" who rotate in and out of Washington. At the top of the hierarchy, he finds the big private equity banks and hedge funds. Thus, political leadership descends from Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, the Carlyle Group and others. Goldman Sachs is a historically Jewish firm, Stephen A. Schwarzman is co-founder and current head of the Blackstone Group, while David Rubenstein is co-founder of the Carlyle Group and served in the Carter administration as a domestic policy adviser. 

To get just a minor sense of the interconnectedness of Wall Street and Washington Petras is discussing—and to see its heavily Jewish ethnic nexus—note that during the second Clinton Administration, Robert Rubin served as Secretary of the Treasury and was succeeded by Larry Summers (also Jewish). Rubin worked his way to Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Goldman Sachs prior to becoming the Secretary of the Treasury, and later became the Chairman of Citigroup. He is currently co-chairman of the board of directors on the Council on Foreign Relations. 

Petras claims that former President Clinton and his economic advisers backed the regimes that allowed the plunder of Russian wealth. Though relegated to an endnote, he names Andrei Shleifer and Jeffrey Sachs as those involved. What is relevant here is the ethnic connections going to the top of American society that validate Petras's emphasis on the combined power of Zionism, media and financial control. 

Petras's endnote shows that Harvard paid $26.5 million to settle a suit stemming from various improprieties associated with Harvard professors. As Steve Sailer illustrates, however, it is the Jewishaspect of the entire scandal that stands out. The principals of this scandal were Jews, and they were allegedly protected by fellow Jew, Harvard President Lawrence Summers (who had just finished a stint as Secretary of the Treasury). The upshot of the scandal was that the "reform" of the Russian economy "turned out to be one of the great larceny sprees in all history, and the Harvard boys weren't all merely naive theoreticians." 

Sailer claims that he had not known about the Jewish identity of the "oligarchs" until he read Yale law professor Amy Chua's book World on Fire(when Chua correctly noted that six out of the seven of Russia's wealthiest oligarchs were Jews, her Jewish husband quipped to her, "Just six?  So who's the seventh guy?"). These oligarchs had "paid for Boris Yeltsin's 1996 re-election in return for the privilege of buying ex-Soviet properties at absurdly low prices (e.g., Mikhail B. Khodorkovsky was put in charge of auctioning off Yukos Oil, which owns about 2% of the world's oil reserves—he sold it for $159 million to … himself)." Meanwhile, Jews in Russia represented about one percent of the population. 

Sailer's further observations only cast more light on the extent and value of these ethnic connections: 

As I've said before in the context of exploring how Scooter Libby could serve as a mob lawyer for international gangster Marc Rich on and off for 15 years and then move immediately into the job of chief of staff to the Vice President of the United States, the problem is not that Jews are inherently worse behaved (or better behaved) than any other human group, but that they have achieved for themselves in America in recent years a collective immunity from anything resembling criticism[emphasis added]. 

Petras makes a similar argument when noting that  "Political corruption, not economic efficiency, is the driving force of economic empire-building." As part of this "unprecedented pillage in Russia (1991-99) brought on by Harvard economist Jeffrey Sachs's and others' "shock therapy" in Russia, at least a trillion dollars was transferred to U.S. and EU parties from Russia and Eastern Europe.
